Do you watch The Vampire Diaries?

So True Blood tends to attract an older crowd, but I am genuinely curious. Do you watch this new show?

I’ll admit, I watched the first and second episode. I know it’s out of my age range (I’m 26), but I have been an Ian Somerhalder fan ever since The Rules of Attraction (and then later in LOST), so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I know absolutely nothing about the books, having not read them. So far, my thoughts are that it seems like a show that I would have adored about 10 years ago, had it come out then. In fact, I kind of wish it had, as I was a big vampire fan even back then.

I don’t know yet whether or not I like it. There are parts I find very curious/interesting (like the aspect of them wearing some sort of ring to allow them to walk around during the daytime). But I feel like it’s a little too early in the season to really make a good opinion.

(Also, for those who have read the books, I’m curious about the girl who got bit. She has not died/been turned — so is this show like the Sookie world where it takes a lot more to turn them?)

Anyway, to get to my point, I’m just curious what you guys think of it. I think most of you are around my age range. Do you guys generally feel the same way I do (if you’ve seen it)?

  9. kaylabolina answered: I gave it a try. I never read the books but it is entirely too predictable and I am constantly rolling my eyes over how sappy it is.
